Activated carbon is widely used in various electrochemical applications, one of which an electrode material. The price low, and the essential ingredients are easily obtained from natural materials. material properties very strongly influenced by method manufacture. Thus, selection synthesis procedures, type precursor, activator, heating rate, temperature combustion or pyrolysis makes it easy to control final product/porous but can also design targeted. Supercapacitor electrodes a technology developed conventional capacitors. In this study, bituminous coal was turn activated using hydrochloric acid (HCl) activator. This study aimed determine characteristics potential activator as base manufacture supercapacitor electrodes. sample converted into carbon, starting with preparing through carbonization process. Furthermore, powder crushed sieved obtain uniform size. immersed HCl solution, solution's concentration varied by: 2.5 M; 3M; 3.5M; 4M; 4.5 M done duplo. Soaking carried out for 12 hours, solution filtered, residue furnace 1 hour. results show that has best characterizing, namely 3.5 (duplo) water content, ash volatile matter bound iodine number comply SNI standards. 340.1168 mg/g, degree crystallinity at angle 2θ.
